Heavy Duty Singer from the year 1941. This is the smaller 3/4 size Singer sewing machine. Electric sewing machine with Singer motor, work light and foot pedal controller. This lovely machine has a plaque stating Educational Department Practice Machine, Property of Singer Sewing Machine Co. Not for Sale – so interesting! She is from an antique and vintage sewing machine collection in South Carolina, however we don’t know her history before she became part of that collection. Wrinkle finish with Blackside parts because of the shortage of chromium and nickel, Singer used some black parts instead of silver ones in the 1940s to early 1950s – so special! (cleaned, oiled, new belt and bobbin winder ring added, lubed and tested), and now ready for you. The wiring to the wall plug and foot pedal have been updated, so she’s ready for years of use to come. A beautiful Singer heavy duty sewing machine in her original Singer bentwood case. A lovely machine as seen in the photos. Singer called this machine “The woman’s faithful friend the world over”. She sews a wide variety of materials, including thin leather and denim. Very clean, inside and out. Working Singer utility light and Singer foot pedal controller. The slide plates are chrome instead of blackside, so probably were replaced over the years when students misplaced or damaged them ;. Includes bobbins, Singer blackside screwdriver and many attachments in a Singer box, as shown in the photos. Included with this set is also a Singer Student Manual of Machine Sewing, a Singer Mechanics of the Sewing Machine book, and the original manual (a bit tattered but still useable). This is such a PRETTY machine and so hard working! Straight stitch, with adjustments for pressure and tension. Generous harp area (work area between needle and right side). 53 amp Singer motor.
